Education Minister Douglas Syakalima has announced the conclusion of the 2024 teacher recruitment exercise, with the names of the 4,200 selected candidates to be published tomorrow in both print and electronic media.
The Minister also confirmed that the government is recruiting 2,400 teachers for replacement positions, with finalization expected within two weeks. The names of these candidates will be released separately from the 4,200 selected through the net recruitment process.
The 4,200 new recruits include 424 early childhood education teachers, 1,136 primary teachers, and 2,640 secondary teachers. Of the 420 positions reserved for teachers with disabilities, 202 were filled due to subject area requirements under the new curriculum, which emphasizes STEM, expressive arts, and business studies.
Syakalima assured the public that the government remains committed to improving education standards and addressing the teacher shortage.
